HeatherGlen golf course was first opened in 1987 with 9 holes. The construction on the second 9 holes along with a 15 000 Sq foot clubhouse was completed the following spring. The original concept was to operate as an 18 hole private facility where memberships were affordable .

In 1991 the HeatherGlen Course was then purchased with the new owners wanting to improve the layout and overall conditions of the 18 hole course. Calgary was in desperate need of a facility that was accessible to all golfers on a daily fee basis. HeatherGlen's new management then decided to begin its transformation to a fully Public golf course.

Over the next few years there were changes made to five of the holes that ranged from new greens to a few new bunkers. The biggest change to Heather Glen came in 1998 when ten new holes were being added to the course. The layout of the original holes was changed to incorporate the new holes and even one original hole was taken out. The result is a 27 hole facility where all three nines start and finish at the clubhouse.

Since 1991 HeatherGlen has operated as an affordable, accessible public facility where all of our tee times are reserved for public play. This concept has proven to be a great success in Calgary where there is a number of golf fanatics that do not want to, or are not able to join a private club. This is where HeatherGlen is a perfect match, anyone can book a prime time three days in advance.
